Within these walls I can lie awake.
I can imagine I’m floating on a beautiful lake.
I can think about things I might someday do.
I can maybe even watch a movie or two.
I can write a song and play my guitar.
I can look out the window and count all the cars.
I can stare at the mirror, I can jump on the beds.
Or I can just sit in silence instead.
I can stare at the ceiling while I lie on my back.
I can eat a huge meal or just maybe a snack.
I can do sit-ups, push-ups or run in place.
I can take a shower and shave my face.
I can clean everything. I can make a huge mess.
But there is one thing I have to confess.
I won’t enjoy those things I can do
Because within these walls I don’t have you.
I can imagine I’m floating on a beautiful lake.
