Everyone has a way of letting things out or letting things go. It's kinda like therapy but less expensive. Sometimes someone might have just a simple thought or idea that they had stuck in their mind for some reason and needed to unleash it somehow. This is mine... this is me.

The Costume Craze

It’s the middle of October and it’s almost Halloween!
It’s such a fun little festive day with costumes, candy and things.
There’s lots of ghouls and goblins and fairy tale costumes, too.
Like kings and queens and fairies with wings just to name a few.
The children are so excited to go knocking door to door.
Last year they got lots of candy and this year they'll get more.
“It’s time to pick your costumes kids,” Mother said with a smile.
“And you want to pick out good ones, too, to trick-or-treat in style!”
“I want to be a cat,” sister said, “with a big, fat, fluffy tail.”
“And you’ll make a pretty kitty, too, and you’ll wear the costume well!”
“So what about you boys” Mother asked. “Do you know what you will be?”
“I want to be a pirate,” Tommy said “who sails across the sea.”
Aaarrhh you going to wear an eye patch like the pirates in your book?”
“Yes, I will!” Tommy replied, “And a peg leg and a hook!”
“I don’t know what I want to be,” Teddy said with a frown.
“Last Halloween I couldn’t choose and I wore a hand-me-down.”
“I’m sorry,” Mother said to him as she dried away his tears.
“We won’t make you wear the things your brother wore last year.”
“How about you choose this time, you can pick it all yourself.”
“And if you need some good ideas your father would like to help.”
So Teddy was thinking for a while and he drew some pictures, too.
He still hadn’t thought of the perfect one. He didn’t have a clue.
So he finally decided he needed some help and went to ask his dad.
“Can you tell me some Halloween stories about the costumes you had?”
“Well, one year I was a vampire,” he said, “and another year, a ghost.”
“The time I dressed as an astronaut was the costume I liked the most.”
“And once I was a lion and once I was a mime.”
“But it’s all up to you to choose your own. Just give yourself some time.”
“But those are all such good ideas,” he said with a sad kind of look.
“Just use your own imagination. For me, that’s all it took.”
And Father was right because soon enough, he knew just what to wear.
“Since my name is Teddy,” he said, “I can be a teddy bear!”
So Mother made all of their costumes. She started one by one.
And just in time for Halloween she got the last one done.
So Sister was a kitty cat with a big, fat, fluffy tail.
And Tommy was a mean old pirate setting off to sail.
Teddy was a teddy bear, the cutest you‘ve ever seen.
And they all went out to trick-or-treat that night for Halloween!
